Our Hay Product
We take great pride in the Quality and Consistency of our hay. We cut our hay at tenth bloom and at the right time of day insuring you a high feed value, good color, and that wonderful smell that tells you this is a Quality hay. Our hay is conditioned during harvest to fracture stems. This shortens drying times and preserves leaves so your hay looks like hay, not a bunch of stems and green dust. Most of our fields are sprinkler irrigated assuring even water distribution and eliminating the possibility of wet spots which lead to moldy bales. After cutting the hay is air dried in the summer sun until it is completely dry. We then monitor the air moisture until it is sufficient to evenly rehydrate the hay to a moisture content of 12 to 18%. At which time we bale the hay. Sometimes this means we are baling at 3:00 a.m. while you are fast asleep. But this is the only method we are aware of to insure you of a product that has consistent moisture content without the possibility of mold. We also moisture test every third bale produced in the field as we bale. If the moisture content falls below 12% or above 18% we stop baling until we can catch the proper humidity again. Our balers are set at very high baling pressures producing tight, uniform, easy handling bales with consistent flakes for easy feeding.
We have very fast bale stacking equipment so your hay is in the stack quickly and not exposed to rain or sun bleaching in the field.
Our bales are 16"X18"X42" two twine bales as opposed to 14"X16"X42" found at many hay farms. This slightly larger bale size reduces the amount of hay exposed to the elements and gives you more usable feed per ton but are still very manageable to handle unlike some three twine bales.
